Savimasko is a bustling port city in western Krethes, on the Bay of Stars. It lies on the outskirts of the Pai Wetlands, at the mouth of the Savimakso River, which flows out of Lake Seroa 12 km to the south. It is the capital of the Province of Salaah.

HRH Queen Adelicia was born in Savimasko; her birthday is commemorated with an annual festival. A statue of her stands in the ocean outside the harbour, showing her seated on her throne and looking towards Camfor.

Many explorers and mercenaries are drawn to this bustling port city, which is widely regarded as one of the better places for gentle folk to live.

An extremely well maintained trackway leads south through the marsh to a good secondary road, which continues to Dromfor (south) and Pai (east).

The city’s famous bell tower, which is purported to have great magical powers, is tall enough to function as a shipping beacon.

Savimasko’s North Harbour can berth all but the largest ships, for which anchorage in the sheltered Bay of Stars is available. The South Harbour is meant for river boats. The majority of these are small vessels used for fishing. A few barges occasionally take the so-called “four lakes route” to Pai.

The celebrated artist Alyx Whittaker has recently taken up residence in Savimasko. Her blowerware creations are found in the homes of royalty and the upper classes.

The Marquis of Savimasko, Guarin Gwychardus, resident in Orange House, is the administrator of the Province of Salaah. The marquis is not only a gifted author but also a skilled armourer. The eldest son of the marquis, Lord Sagar Gwychardus, is a follower of D’Aad and like his father, is a skilled metal worker. He makes both weapons and beautiful statues, which are displayed in the city.

The marquis also heads the city council. His second is Mayor Kaelia Flowers, who in turn is assisted by Master Sorcerers Daemian Riggs and Caerlos Hayes.

It is believed that the Gwychardus family created the famous Savimasko Bell, a story that the family doesn’t deny or confirm.

There is much river traffic along the Savimasko, between the city and Lake Seroa and beyond to Lake Sapro. Fishermen harvest fish and eel from the lakes. Drying racks, processing facilities, and seasonal residences dot the shoreline of Lake Seroa.

Major export trade items are small animals (rabbits, chickens, ortells), river pottery, a range of resiyen products, and umber coffee.

Just outside the town limits, along the river’s edge, large ponds have been dug, which are deeply lined with woven mats of simper reed. The reed mats act as filters, letting only pure water through into the ponds. The ponds are a source of fresh water to Savimasko; the mulm collected from the outer surface of the reed mats is used as rich fertilizer for the resiyen fields. Malmberries are cultivated in swampier ground further away from town; these are sold in dried form, or used to make dapson wine.

The wealthy trader Zeckus Vines operates a network of teamsters and freighters, mostly via barge along the four lakes route.

Two prominent temples stand at opposite ends of the town. To the north, on the coast, is the Temple to Qidra, overseen by High Priest Gabrael Forester. In the spacious ground outside the temple stands a remarkable animated statue of a snake intertwining with a vine. Standing like a sentinel at the southern approach to the town is the looming temple of D'Aad, capably run by High Priest Baella Soward. It receives hopeful initiates from across the duchy for training; their flowing blue cloaks are a familiar sight in town. The adventuring Aadite cleric Arch Priest Eryc Allie visits here often.

The Great Hall of the Guild of Cordwainers (led by Order Master Jocelyne Frey) is located in Savimasko. It’s future here is uncertain, in part because the hobsonia lily, which used to grow abundantly in the nearby swamp, has gone all but extinct.

The Small Hall of the Guild of Wicker Workers, with order master Brandyn Beacher in charge, pioneers the use of simper reed for a wide range of items and processes, including water purification, healing, and construction.

The Guild of Brewers, Distillers & Vintners (represented by Chloeia Bergand Uwyn Gold) are responsible for the production of dapson wine; Jaecoby Summers of the Guild of Coopers is in charge of exports.

Other guilds that are very active are the Wood Workers, Fishmongers, Jewelers, Music & Performers, and Scholastics. On very special occasions, the hulking barbarian Mirrawin Jashari the Keen, a gifted song-speaker, visits the Guild of Scholastics.

The Arcane Bertus Boyle is a flamboyant man-about-town known for his elegant parties.
