TB9 Chapter 5
Jan 16: 12:00. At the fork to Harper's mine Tylus Gold departs and Brandyn proceeds towards Harper's mine.
Jan 17: Some time in the afternoon Brandyn hears brief thudding and an almost imperceptible shake in the ground, this carries sporadically and soon enough Brandyn can see what appears to be a giant patrolling the road in the distance. Brandyn proceeds cautiously and the giant eventually disappears from sight, worried about running into the giant Brandyn notices campfire smoke rising from behind some rocks off the path. Sneaking around he notices a small grassy clearing with a self stirring pot and three military grade tents and a large pole. Investigating the pole Brandyn runs into an invisible barrier that damages him, deciding the pole is not worth it he investigates the tents. They appear to be standard military tents, until he hears a giggle coming from the third one. Opening it he finds a young boy hiding underneath one of the cots. The friendly child introduces himself as Virgil and convinces Brandyn to entertain him for the afternoon before his father returns. Eventually the thudding returns and Brandyn notices coming down the road, towards the camp is the giant being ridden by someone and surrounded by soldiers. Young Virgil runs ahead to greet his father and the father eventually arrives and introduces himself as Captain Virgil. He explains he is a part of a crew sent to build roads in the mountains with the help of the giant and a wizard. Brandyn spends the evening with the soldiers, sharing stories and performing songs for them. He also warns them of the bandits at Blackrock.
Jan 18th: Brandyn wishes the soldiers goodbye and continues on the Harper's.
Jan 19: Brandyn arrives in Harper's mining town, he exchanges some gold for silver finds out where the master of the mine lives. Finding the guild house Brandyn asks for Thomas Pollin and questions him on possible barbarian artifacts in the mine. According to him there are absolutely no artifacts in the mines and such a rumor could be bandits luring people out to the mountains to rob them. Thanking him Brandyn has food at Nicola's and spends the rest of the day selling the two bandit's horses. He returns to Nicola's and pays them for dinner and a room for the night. Brandyn proceeds to tell and perform stories gathering a large crowd and having a fantastic evening.
Jan 20: The next morning Brandyn prepares to leave but before he can exchanges some of the raw ore he received as tips the previous night for coin, and spends some time learning about appraising ore.
Jan 21-27: Brandyn travels out the Copper Hills, passing the road work team and leaves to Cordale.
Jan 28: Arrives in Cordale and spends the night with his uncle, sharing stories from his time in the Copper Hills.
Jan 29-31: Travelling to Forbeck
Feb 01: Bradyn arrives home, greeting his parents before heading past Aldo's to find it had closed down. He then heads straight to the museum to find it had been robbed. Adding to this bad news Brandyn informs Chloe of the lack of Barbarian artifacts and hands in his resignation as thumb of the museum. Brandyn then heads to Jordus for tea and to talk about his travels. Heading to the Bardic College next Brandyn finds Victorya to pay for his next stage of training. He then heads to the mages guild to research runic magic and ask if Tylas Gold had been around. Finding out a guard had been asking after him instead of Tylas Brandyn heads straight to the same barracks as before only to be informed he was under arrest for the murder of Master Mason. Brandyn is arrested and through alchemical means it is found his rapier was the killing weapon. Brandyn is then held in a jail cell until a paladin can come cast zone of truth, which happens later that night. Under the zone of truth Brandyn informs the paladin he did indeed not kill Master Mason and is set free.
Feb 02: Brandyn begins his training.
Feb 03-08: Training hard.
Feb 09: Last day of training. Brandyn is promoted to a Rhymer and "Hardy travelling bard".
Feb 10: Brandyn spends the day tavern hopping trying to find out if Tylas Gold ever came to Forbeck.
Feb 11: After tavern hopping most of the day Brandyn remembers he's a mage and casts Locate Person: Tylus is in Harper's Mine. Brandyn leaves immediately for Harper's.
Feb 12-15: Brandyn travels fast and hard.
Feb 16: Brandyn arrives in Harper's and heads straight to where he can detect Tylas is, finding out that he has purchased the mine and is the new mine boss and doesn't wish to pursue the voyage he agreed to. Noticing the large magical library in Tylas' office Brandyn decides to call in the life debt owed by Tylas and claims the books as his own. Next, Brandyn heads to Thomas asking for a tour of the mine, finding no trace of any artifacts. Remembering the two bandits he killed, Brandyn decides to ask the cleric at the all gods temple to accompany him to lay their souls to rest.
Feb 16-19: Travelling to the corpses.
Feb 20: The Kidranian cleric casts Eternal Rest on the corpses, stating if they had been any later they might have risen. Brandyn asks for a quick lesson in religion. Travelling back towards Harper's, Brandyn wishes farewell to the Kidranian at the fork to Blackrock and heads down there. There he finds the abandoned town was truly abandoned once more, as someone or something had slaughtered all the Bandits in their fort. Brandyn loots the fort.
