Barrowmarsh lies in the remote depths of the Pai Wetlands. Wooden walkways connect the village to Pai, Savimasko, and Dracmarsh.
There is quite some traffic through Barrowmarsh since it lies about midway between Savimasko and Pai, and the settlement has several inns, stables and travel hostels. Mayor Olivya Wool runs the settlement.
The village is the only source of a mildly intoxicating fungus, mungweed, which grows in this region. Regular users develop a noticeable purple tinge to their tongues. Grassa Bake, a cleric of Qidra, is in charge of the mungweed production. The settlement is popular with bards, musicians and poets.
A roadworks division is stationed in the village, to facilitate the upkeep of the walkways.
It is said that the sinister Melmidoc Gwychardus lives in both Barrowmarsh and Dracmarsh.
