Dracmarsh lies deep in the Pai Wetlands on the western shores of Lake Penush. It is a pleasant settlement in a picturesque location.
It is known for the magical footwear produced by the Guild of Cordwainers, as well as for its raucous midsummer festival.
One of the best bellfounders in Kalderesh, Jonathyn Seams, is the elder of Dracmarsh. Together with his colleague, Lucius Coppers, they craft bells for elite customers. They train a few local youths in the art of metal smelting and casting.
There are numerous inns which are mostly unoccupied, testifying to an earlier time when more traffic passed through.
A midsummer festival, the Silvery Season, is celebrated on the lake. Villagers construct floats and rafts which are beautifully decorated, and for the duration of the festival, nobody is allowed to be on land. There is much drinking and celebration, and unscheduled swimming. First councillor Aaro Silver is responsible for arranging the Silvery Season.
The Guild of Cordwainers has its Small Hall here, led by Master Alysea Dyson. The Hall is an impressive building in the village, but is mostly deserted. The artisans are at work on the opposite side of the lake, some 5 km distant. Along this remote eastern section of the lake, the artisans tend an aquatic nursery containing hobsonia, a rare species of water lily. When properly treated, the leaves of the lily can be fashioned into footwear that allows the wearer to walk on water.
It is said that the sinister Melmidoc Gwychardus lives in both Barrowmarsh and Dracmarsh.
