Wildeston is a small coastal village in northern Kirvan, north of Bitafor across Trader’s Bay. It lies a day’s travel off the Royal Road, but is still a popular stop-over for weary travellers on the Royal Road.

The little village is big on festivals: the coronation days of each monarch of Kalderesh is cause for a fair, procession, festival, or some other kind of loud, public celebration.

Elder Lincon Lenderman runs the village council, and is the proprietor of an impressive inn, which attracts wealthy travellers on the road between Bitafor and Barban. Many inns and several large hostels accommodate less well-healed travellers.

Councillor Connyr Sheerer is a crafty barkeep and adept at the culinary arts; his establishment provides meals that rival those found in Camfor (both in quality and price!).

Wildeston’s small fishing harbour is fit to support a modest fishing fleet, but little else.

Wildeston is perhaps best known, however, for a unique landform in all the world. Known as the Pelican’s Anvil, it is a large floating island just 3 km off the coast. Mages, scholars, and sages have written volumes about it, and have studied it carefully. Magic does not work on the island, however, so their observations are usually confined to the shore, or from aboard a ship. About the size of a standard wheat field, the island hovers some 300 metres above the ocean. For as long as it has been written about, pelicans have lived on the island, hence its name.
