Farmland near Clearford.

Clearford is a small settlement in Camnevy Valley, partially situated on an island in a river, nestled in the Forest of Kova in the foothills of the Barban Uplands. Cerosfor lies to the north and Camfor to the south-east.

Select timber is gathered from the forest, processed in the village, and transported down-river to Camfor, where it is highly prized for construction. Religious items and works of art are also crafted from choice pieces of wood.

The bones of an ancient creature were discovered in a secluded glen, and many secrets were unlocked from its corpse, according to the Guild of Scholastics.

Despite these remarkable features, Clearford is actually famous for being the home of Lord Eudes Galter, a peer of the realm and the eldest son of the Marquis of Azerel.

Lord Galter’s isolated castle towers above the tree canopy, standing on a massive outcrop looking down on the village. Galter is not only a skilled scholar (city lore, mathematics) but it also an Officer in the Sky Cavalry. As Wing Captain, he has a division of sky helms, mounted on red griffons, stationed in the castle. No doubt the presence of the imposing castle, and the activity of the sky helms, keeps the gorns and trollocs that infest Kova Hills and Baro Hills at bay.

Besides Lord Galter, the castle is home to a Salee Grand High Priest, the elegant Lady Nycola Moler. It is said that Lord Galter and Lady Moler disappear for long periods of time and return as abruptly as they left.

The daily running of Clearford is under the control of Lady Mayor Ysabel Wood. She instituted a very popular midsummer festival, the highlight of which is a form of competitive dancing, in which the participants wear brightly-coloured red leggings. Clearford is well-known for its production of durable dyes and pigments, mostly used for textiles and fabrics.

A well-established furnace works, producing ceramics and glasswork, is located in an old mine near the village.

Clearford has a chapel, three chantries, five shrines, and two all-gods.
