Dorbeach is the most northerly settlement in the duchy, located in a remote sheltered inlet that opens out towards the Angulus Islands.
The first settlers in the region were fishermen, who made a good living providing a variety of seafood to the Monastery of Arawn. This first settlement never grew beyond a few dozen people, and at times dwindled to single-digits, because of the remote location and the ability of the Aranites to provide for themselves when needed.
In 4516, however, the Marquis of Azerel decided to establish a small naval base in the inlet, and Dorbeach was formally settled. The naval base featured a separate harbour and barracks. This increased activity attracted settlers and within a few decades it was a thriving farming community.
The Qidranians established a fane in the village, in support of the farming community. Because of Dorbeach’s remoteness, the fane began to attract scholars in search of a quiet space to think and study. A second floor was constructed to accommodate itinerant scholars, which included senior Qidranian clerics and sages.
Currently, Docent Ambrose Polman is resident in the fane. He is a High Sage Priest of the Temple of Qidra, an expert sage in Astral Diseases and the Planes of Existence. Mishka Threddler is the senior priestess in charge of the fane.
Cameryn Silvermoon is the mayor, ably assisted by first councillor Nicholys Button.
Once a year the navy and the fisherman compete in a dangerous but exciting race around the Angulus Islands. For the duration of the race, the village holds a feast, presented by the winners of the previous year’s race (which thus cannot take part in the current race). The winners of the race are gifted turquoise wrist bands, crafted by the previous champions. The wristwear seems to get more elaborate with each passing year.
In addition to the Qidranian fane, Dorbeach has a chapel, two chantries, four shrines, and three all-gods.
