The sandy beaches of Whitecoast are ideal for growing sand nuts, seen in the mid-ground above.

Whitecoast is a coastal village on the Gulf of Kalder. It was founded several generations ago in a secluded bay about half a day’s travel off the Royal Road.

At that time, the rich fishing waters were exploited to produce cured fish for travellers and the military. A substantial fishing fleet and processing facilities developed.

Today, this small settlement has many abandoned buildings, testimony to the trend of urbanization that attracts younger people to the cities. The de facto mayor is Handyr Mayr, although council meetings are held only infrequently.

The wide sandy beaches are ideal for growing sand nuts; off-shore, sea root and ocean melon are cultivated, with small stands of beach rice not uncommon.

The village used to have a midwinter festival, but it has been many years since the festival was a splendid affair. Lately, the festival is held indoors, in small groups, or at one of the larger inns. Travellers rarely stop here, but when they do, they are welcomed heartily.
