Fogcastle lies in the western Black Valley in the Greater Kascht, on the banks of the Misty River. Trails connect it to Avaben, Asafor, and some other small settlements.

Fogcastle was once an active charcoal producing centre. Today, the village produces modest-quality furnishings which is sold in Asafor. The village elder and senior freighter is Mayor Thomys Glazier.

The charcoal furnaces were converted into an impressive residence for the evoker Maelon Emms, of the Order of the Blue Harp. Emms runs a private school, known for its splendid graduation ceremonies.

A small military detachment is present in the settlement, housed in a fortified guard tower along the western approach road.

Rumours persist of a mysterious Castle of Fog located somewhere near the village, presumably long abandoned or infested by powerful supernatural monsters.
