Prycastle lies in the beautiful Prycastle Valley, on the banks of the Baybeck, along the Royal Road. It marks the junction of the Second Province of D'Aad and the Royal District of Parnogrust.
Baybeck River runs through Prycastle; it is spanned by a massive stone bridge (which carries the Royal Road) known as Twisparon’s Bridge. The bridge is extremely wide, and accommodates two rows of shops and homes along its length, specializing in tack and harness. A merry children’s festival is held annually, sponsored by the shopkeepers of Twisparon’s Bridge. Tagus Rains is the mayor, and is one of the best farmers in the region.
Prycastle exists solely in support of the horse trade. Prycastle Valley is home to the Daern Black, a special breed of powerfully muscled and agile horses. They have long, arched necks, powerful sloping shoulders, compact, muscular bodies with strong, sloping hindquarters and low-set tails.
These horses, and specially bred thorough lines, are highly sought after. Seasonal endurance and racing events, and auctions, draw large crowds to Prycastle. The Kalders own a large ranch in the district, established well before Prycastle was founded.
In addition to horses, Prycastle is also famous for the wide range of accessories (saddles, stirrups, bridles, halters, reins, bits, etc.) that are designed and manufactured here. Tack from Prycastle is highly sought after. Leading producers are Ploughman's Emporium, Steadfast Berger's, and Logus Yardley & Sons.
A Razimite chapel is supported by the retired general Samaentha Bailey.
Senior Sorcerer Jaesen Peppers, a member of the Guild of Armorers & Locksmiths, lives in the village where he has a small workshop for designing and building time pieces.
Just south of the village stands Castle Prymark, built centuries ago. It is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Harl. The current occupant is Lord Segar Vasey, eldest son of the Duke of Harl. Lord Vasey is a mentalist of repute and is also a skilled alchemist, with probably the best-equipped laboratory in Daern. The head of the laboratory is the sorcerer Jeremus Vines, and many famous alchemists have studied here.
