Falconcliff lies at the head of Morkin Valley, at a gentle bend in the Morkin River. It is surrounded by miles of croplands and is a bustling agricultural settlement.
Falconcliff’s farmland stretches an impressive 40 km along the course of the Morkin. Primary crops are vegetables, grimble, cow wheat, willow rice, lime fern and urvine. Siphon is cultivated in the uplands as are small quantities of resiyen, river lichen, and lily silk.
Despite its agricultural importance, Falconcliff remains a tight-knit community, with everyone involved in crop production. The mayor, Saemuel Star, and first councillor, Nicolus Helms, are skilled at managing the many duties and functions of the community. They regularly consult with the Qidranian Horys Grillett. The Qidranian chapel is attached to the village council chambers. A fane to Sahir stands near the village market. It is tended to by holiness Lyncon Hardison.
Jaecob Hooke is the local armourer and blacksmith, while Emilanus Sailor is an expert animal handler and stable keeper.
The peacekeeper in the settlement is the devout Aranite Tagus Deerman, a retired military officer who returned to his birth home to organize the guard patrols.
The village council encourages outsiders to settle here and to take up farming; they provide settlers with land, basic guidance, and guarantee a minimum purchase price on crops produced.
Overlooking the village, just beyond the western bank of the Morkin, is a hillock with a sheer, exposed eastern face. Many years ago, falcons nested in these cliffs. The locals collected their flight feathers, from which highly-sought-after fletchings for arrows were made. As the town grew, however, the falcons left for more remote and peaceful parts.
