Hedgehaven lies in eastern Toreen, where the Royal Road crosses the Hebdin River. It is one of a number of settlements in this area that provides food and supplies to the Razimites who have a secret stronghold in the badlands somewhere near the Nurem Hills.
The village elder, Aendro Saffron, is a devout Qidranian and is an expert on fungi recognition and cooking. Elderman Saffron supervises the cultivation of various mushrooms in riverside cavelets, which bring in a good profit.
Village councillor Valerya Streets is a skilled carpenter and makes boats and chariots. Hedgehaven has many inns and hostels, catering to travellers along the Royal Road between Kirvan and Barban. The largest is The Minstrel 's Lock, owned by Maeson Flowers.
Hedgehaven’s extensive farmlands, of camworte, bush rice, and siphon plantations, are cultivated primarily for supply to the Razimites. The Aadite cleric Iaen Sandman oversees the Chapel of D’Aad, the largest religious structure in the village. Sandman runs a tannery on the banks of the Hebdin.
A large cattle ranch, owned by the Shoal family, lies a short distance out of town.
