Lightfield Toreen Second Province of Razim village 1,790 4601
Intensive farming of grimble (shown here in flower) to the west of Lightfield.

Lightfield is a small agricultural settlement that is the westernmost of the horticultural “basket loop”. It is located just off the Royal Road connecting Torbeck to Coth-Rom.

The village was named for the nearby Priory of the Light, which lies some 8 km to the south-west. The village has close ties with the Priory and supports the Razimite activities in the badlands to the west.

The village lies on the banks of the Mychael River, with a narrow bridge, Ferryman’s Steps, connecting the two halves. The secondary road between Donnalaich and Hedgehaven runs through the western half of Lightfield. Just outside the town, the Royal Road passes by, crossing the secondary road, where a cluster of inns and pubs has sprung up.

Mayor Aaro Cash, a skilled engineer, runs the settlement. Mayor Cash has a manufacturing smithy in which large trundle wagons are built. First Councillor Nathylie Salt is a boat pilot and manages the river traffic that commutes between Lightfield and Greenbarrow.

Everyone in Lightfield is involved in some way in the food production, processing, and distribution work. Elius Oars is responsible for exploring new markets for Lightfield’s products. The devout Aranite Victor Bayer is a shipwright, and he maintains the transfer barges that go downriver. The skilled forester Olivus Doones trains barge horses which are used for the long return journey.

Large groves of nut trees are grown on the eastern bank of Lightfield. Fruit trees, grimble, and barley occupy the western fields.

The largest inn in town is The Strumpet's Trumpet, while the largest inn at the road crossing just outside of town is The Triton's Trumpet. The youth of Lightfield, and those of similarly unserious attitudes, do the Trumpet Run, which involves lots of drinking and running back-and-forth between the establishments.

Once a year, when the Full Moon is largest, Lightfield holds an all-night harvest festival out in the fields in the light of the Full Moon.

In recent years, a Razimite camp has been built just outside Lightfield.
