Blueshore lies on the coast near the royal city of Dromfor, on Gull Bay, in south-western Krethes.
Despite its remote location, the village is extremely prosperous, sporting a bewildering array of inns, hotels, and other luxury short-term residences. Beautiful inns and hotels, with some of the finest prinwork in Kalderesh, line the main road and market place. The town elder, Nicholaes Streams, is a skilled artist and is known for his paintings of seascapes.
Blueshore is nominally a fishing village, and there is an active fishing fleet of small boats. However, a surprising range of delicacies are available from the eateries throughout the village. Elite cooks, bakers, and chefs, who hope to find employment in Dromfor or other exceptional places, travel to Blueshore to train.
Every year, an ocean festival is held for the village’s children. This event includes a diving competition; those who qualify are allowed to wear an orange shell ear piercing.
On a steep hill, known as Beacon Hill, just to the west of the village stands a well-preserved firetower, the oldest in Kalderesh. It is still used as a light house, although fire, of course, is no longer used for illumination.
In 4667 several townsfolk witnessed a mysterious naval battle just off the coast of Blueshore! A group of kelp divers were making their way along the rocky shore before sunrise, when they witnessed two cogs at broadsides. According to their combined testimony, the larger vessel flew a Malanthean flag. The sailors of the Kalderani vessel were boarding the larger ship and engaging in hand-to-hand combat. As the kelp divers stood watching, slack jawed, a water hurricane sprang up, engulfed both ships, lifted them out of the ocean and carried them away. The divers searched for survivors but none were found.
About 20 years ago, a plague of ocean spiders swarmed fishing vessels working in the ocean and even came into the harbour and attacked villagers, sea gulls, and anything else alive. The villagers fled and rallied on Beacon Hill, and organized a counter-attack using fire and conjured sea gulls. The plague was stopped and has not reappeared again.
In 4680 it was widely reported across Krethes that a prophet of Sahir visited Blueshore, made several remarkable predictions to folk gathered in the Upper Market, and then left town, never to be seen again.
A few years ago, several fishing boats and their occupants were lost when a sea beast of some kind attacked and destroyed them. A reconnaissance party from Dromfor investigated the incident, but a cause has never been found.
