Byburn lies in the Hills of Burin, between Sikafor and Laneder, at the source of the Sand River.
Despite lying on a well-travelled road it is quite isolated and is mostly a transit village. It is well-defended as there are sometime raids by marauding skrags from the west.
Mayor Aeli Star and First Councillor Braddeus Arch run the town council.
The town has many inns, stables, and other travel-related establishments.
Small-scale mining and prospecting is carried out in the hills surrounding the settlement. From time to time raw materials are transported down-river to Glassedge, and from there to the Royal Road for pickup.
