Caring Cove is a very small coastal settlement south-east of Belmead, on the Bay of Sharks. No serviceable track leads to the hamlet.
It is one of the youngest settlements in Kalderesh, founded as recently as 4662 by Alarick the Blue, a fortune teller and potion maker originally from Torbeck. Alarick testified to receiving a vision from Oohm, in which it was revealed that swimming in the ocean at this location had healing properties, promoted mental health and general well-being.
A group of about 100 people joined Alarick and founded the settlement. For a while, all went well. Alarick began creating potions and draughts of health, as well as potions of water breathing. An enclave of mystics, fortune tellers, and spiritualists soon formed, and visitors began arriving.
Some 10 years later, Alarick died unexpectedly, and Masyn Tailor took over as Council Elder.
When foot-and-mouth disease broke out amongst the farm animals, people began to desert Caring Cove. An influx of undesirable sorts from Freybourne changed the character of the settlement.
Not long after, Alrick's Advanced Alchemical Academie was established, in the hopes of restarting the creation of potions, balms, and draughts. Some reports say that moonshine was instead being manufactured at some unknown location near the Cove.
Recently, an underwater lava trench burst open in the bay, and a trapped sea monster was released. The beast ravaged the fishing industry, and has made its home in Cove Point Cave. Some say the cave leads to an underground complex.
