The Jade Conclave of the Yellow Sky, commonly abbreviated JCYS, is a Kalderani trading, courier and warehousing company headquartered in Pai. It distributes tea, coffee, spices and other goods, and operates a network of couriers, delivery workers, branch representatives and temporary storage facilities across Kalderesh. Its motto is One World, One Market.

The Conclave presents its mission as providing "the best tea, coffee and other goods to everyone in Kalderesh". Serious allegations of trafficking and other criminal activity have nevertheless been made against parts of its transport network.

History

The date and circumstances of the Conclave's foundation are not publicly recorded. It has developed an extensive commercial network across southern and central Kalderesh and has expanded into the northern duchies of Barban and Daern.

The Conclave promotes the ideal of a single Kalderani market in which goods can be moved reliably between distant settlements. Its public mission emphasises the nationwide availability of tea, coffee and other traded goods.

The Conclave also subcontracts parts of its transport network. John Octavius Gray briefly served on a merchant-protection detail attached to a caravan whose operator had been subcontracted by JCYS.

Reputation

JCYS presents itself as a nationwide commercial service capable of linking distant Kalderani markets. Its extensive use of subcontractors and temporary facilities makes the precise limits of its organisation difficult for outsiders to determine.

The Conclave's reputation has been damaged by testimony and evidence associating its wagons with the transport of captives, including children. These findings concern identified Conclave traffic connected to Orrin Marr; they do not, by themselves, establish the involvement of every branch or employee.

Involvement in events

In 4691 AC, members of TB31 investigated a tower operated by Orrin Marr. Testimony obtained from Josaeth Waterman, together with evidence found during the investigation, connected JCYS wagons with the delivery of captives to Marr's operation. Waterman stated that the deliveries had grown from one or two captives at a time to wagonloads containing adults and children.

The Conclave has also been associated with suspicious cargo movements elsewhere in Kalderesh. The precise authority under which these shipments were arranged remains uncertain.

Reports and allegations

• JCYS wagons have been accused of transporting captives, including children, to Orrin Marr's tower. This allegation is supported by Waterman's testimony and the findings of TB31.
• Criminal activity has been alleged within the Conclave's courier and storage network. The extent to which senior management knew of or directed such activity has not been established publicly.
• The Conclave is reported to have a serious rivalry with Markus Thorne in Coth-Rom.
