Newmoor lies in the wild mountainous foothills of the Seven Guardians mountain range, in south-western Toreen. The settlement lies at the confluence of two mountain streams, which join to become the Eelbeck.

This remote village, on the border of the Province of Qidra, is somewhat of a frontier settlement, as it lies near the edge of the forest and at the foothills of the monster-infected mountains. Consequently, explorers, bounty hunters and those seeking adventure often pass through here.

Large stone ponds have been packed upstream of Eelbeck, holding giant eels and some redfins, which make up the staple diet of the villagers.

The surrounding farmland is rather sparse, and limefern is cultivated to fertilize crops of rock beans and urvine, grown in the less-rocky lowlands. Small groves of olives trees are also cultivated.

The settlement is led by Elius Bowman, a craftsman skilled at lock making. Gwyllem Gardner is the first councillor. She is a mage who combines her dweomercraft with soil manipulation to enhance the village’s croplands.

Several inns, public houses, and travel-related concerns are concentrated around the village market. A dramatically-posed griftware statue of the sword-wielding swashbuckler Yaden Vane dominates the market centre. Vane was born and grew up in Newmoor.

The wheelwright Talya Potter operates a wagon and cart repair business. She is a devoted Oohmian and hosts a chantry attached to her workshop. The cavalier Lyam Porter owns the village’s general dealership. A surprising range of goods is for sale in his shop, as he travels often. Porter also sells maps of the region to travellers, as well as rare signed sceens of Yaden Vane.

A chapel to Sahir greets travellers entering the village from the west. Priest Julyo Starr, an outgoing and jolly fellow, attends to it. The most prominent chantry is dedicated to D’Aad and is managed by Oscoe Sterne, owner of the largest olive groves in the area.
