The best timber for construction is sourced from Pilton, gathered in Eelbeck Valley.

Pilton lies in south-western Duskwood, on the River Eelbeck. Upriver is Newmoor, and downriver, at the coast, is Welledge. Pilton is a major provider of quality construction timber. It is also the well-known for its spring flower festival, often attracting scholars, herbalists, and sight-seers from across the kingdom. The flowers are unique, in that they have been grafted onto living trees, creating a spectacular vista.

The village leader is Mayor Naemo Garr, a well-spoken and canny businessman. Garr, a follower of Oohm, is skilled at negotiating good prices for the timber gathered for export. Her home, which also doubles as council offices, overlooks the river. Her first assistant, Gaeus Singer, is a meticulous record keeper, and also a skilled gem cutter.

Pilton is a quiet village with a long, proud tradition in forestry. Druids of the Circle of the Earthmother guide the lumberworkers to trees to be felled. The trees are then limbed, bucked and transported back to Pilton. From there, they are floated down-stream to Welledge. The 62 km journey is an epic and dangerous one, and only the fittest and most skilled tree riders survive.

The retired wizard Vinkus Stone is in charge of the logging operation, particularly the transport of the logs downriver. Wizard Stone is a capable scholar and is knowledgeable about veterinary healing, animal lore, monstrous species lore, and pest control.

Pilton’s low-density farmland – actually a patchwork of small, unconnected fields – is scattered amongst thinned-out sections of the forest. The primary crops are beans, brine wheat, beetroot, and rice.

A chapel to Salaah is built on a tiny promontory into the Eelbeck. It is managed by the Salee Aaryn Sandman and his long-time partner Caeleb Silvermoon. Silvermoon is ex-military and oversees the village patrols. He is often accompanied by the well-to-do gladiator Aevan Beach, who retired to Pilton after an all-star career in Camfor. A fane to Razim stands in the centre of the village market. The Razimite cleric Josayah Springer attends to services.
